Nancy Ann (Tilenius) Hayles

Nancy Ann (Tilenius) Hayles of Florence, AL passed away on Friday February 27 after a brief illness surrounded by her children. She was born in Toledo, OH on September 12, 1936. After living in various states, she moved to Florence in 1998. She had a fun sense of humor, was a friend to many. Nancy was very artistic and musically talented playing piano by ear.

Visitation will be Friday, March 6, 2026, from 2-3 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home.  A private graveside service will follow the visitation. Officiating will be Deacon Catherine Schiesz.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eloise and Glen Vernier; brother, Tommy Vernier; spouses, George L. Tilenius (1995) and Richard N. Hayles (2022).

She is survived by her children, Heidi Tilenius (Florence, AL), Jeff Tilenius (Chattanooga, TN); and granddaughter, Summer McDonald (Atlanta, GA); nieces and nephews; favorite cousin, Betty Ann Bloom (Blue Ridge, GA); and best little buddy, Bandit.

 The family is grateful to her friend and neighbor, Jan, and caretakers, Sheronda and Helen. Her family also wants to thank Dr. C. Edward Moore and his office staff along with the doctors and nurses on the 5th floor of NAMC for providing compassionate care.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Florence Lauderdale Animal Services, 3240 Roberson Rd. Florence, AL 35630.
